Dr. Suresh Mandava is a board-certified, fellowship-trained refractive and cornea specialist with education from Cornell and Yale. He performs all types of corneal surgery and specializes in refractive surgery, including LASIK. He has presented his research and regularly reviews refractive surgery research articles for publication.
Dr. Mandava has been medical director since 1998 and has performed over 10,000 procedures, including the first Custom LASIK in New England. He is often chosen by doctors to perform their surgery because of his personal touch and credentials. Dr. Mandava is the only refractive surgeon to have been named "Top Doc" in New York Magazine, Connecticut, and the Greenwich/Stamford/Darien/Westport Moffly Publications.
Once you have found the right doctor, make sure they are involved—surgery is not the only important step. At FCLV, Dr. Mandava will take care of you every step of the way. He will conduct your refractive consultation personally (no sales people), take your measurements more than once (no other doctors involved), perform your customized surgery with care, and see you for every post-operative visit to make sure things are going smoothly.
We use Intralase (all-laser, bladeless) and VISX technology with the newest upgrades, and we perform procedures on site. Diagnostic testing includes the Pentacam for screening, CustomVue Wavefront analysis, and virtually every eye diagnostic test available, as we are now located in Greenwich Ophthalmology, a 12,000 sq. ft. complete ophthalmic center.
Because of our strict screening process, we recommend no surgery for over 20% of our patients. Because we do more than laser vision correction, you can trust that we will explain your options and help you make the right decision, even if it is contacts or glasses, or waiting for new technology.
Our practice specializes in being compassionate and accommodating to our patient's needs. At FCLV, you will never feel like a number. Because Dr. Mandava sees every patient, our pace is different from other laser centers. Our staff are experts in the process, and many of them have had surgery themselves. We understand that this is one of the biggest decisions you will make, and we will make sure you are thrilled with your experience.
We will make every effort to be available when you need us. You will have Dr. Mandava's cell phone number, and in the rare event he is unavailable, an MD will be covering. We also strive to take care of you for the long term. In the unusual event that you need an enhancement in the first two years, it is free. After that time, we have a fair enhancement policy without the onerous requirement for you to schedule and pay for exams every year, which is in the fine print for most "Lifetime Guarantees" that you may come across.
